Take a moment to think about all the memories you’ve preserved over the years. Like many of us, I would imagine those memories are preserved in the usual fashion. Photographs tucked into albums or digital files stored on our latest devices. Probably even digitally on your social media.
Trust me, I get it.
Photography is one of my favorite hobbies. I have loved capturing memories with my camera for as long as I can remember. First it was disposable cameras or inexpensive film then digital cameras. Then I remember getting my first DSLR in high school. My mom bought it for me from Sam’s Club. I was so excited, I used that thing for everything. It’s where I fell in love with Canon.
I still take time out of my day to capture photos, more often on my iPhone than with my Canon… That needs to change. But, I capture a photograph every day. Sometimes of my babies 🐕🐕, sometimes the sky or a butterfly, and even sometimes of a beautiful meal I’ve made. Photography speaks its own language, one I admire deeply.
Afterall, they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words”.
So when I think of preserving memories, photographs are always the first to come to mind. But, I’ve come to realize there is something beautiful about creating and preserving memories with a different medium. Something you can touch, display, and pass down.
Yes, these are all doable with a photograph. I hope you continue to pass down photos for generations to come. But even the best of prints become delicate over the years. Fade with time. Or don’t even become a print.
